Stores from Google Sheets
What this article helps you do
Understand how stores from Google Sheets operate in Mapstore. Learn which fields you can edit in Mapstore and which fields you must edit in the sheet.
Before you start
- You have stores from a Google Sheet or plan to add them.
- You understand Sync stores with Google Sheets.
Step-by-step instructions
1. Identify sheet-managed stores
- In Stores, Mapstore marks sheet-managed stores with the Google Sheets source.
- The scheduled sync overwrites specified fields with data from the sheet.
2. Which fields are controlled by the sheet
- The sheet controls name, address, phone, email, filters, and all mapped columns.
- When you change these in the sheet and sync runs, Mapstore updates the store to match.
- The next sync overwrites Mapstore edits to those fields.
3. Which fields you can edit in Mapstore
- For sheet-managed stores, almost all store fields are read-only in the store form.
- You can edit Product assignments and link products to those locations.
- Check the store form. If a field is disabled, edit it in Google Sheets.
4. Correct sheet-managed data
- To correct name, address, filters, or other sheet columns, edit the Google Sheet.
- Wait for the next sync.
- To sync immediately, use Run manual sync.
- Sheet-managed rows cannot be selected for dashboard bulk actions.
- Do not edit those fields in Mapstore. The next sync overwrites the edits.
5. Change a store to manual management
- If full control of a location is necessary, remove its row from the sheet.
- Start the sync.
- Make sure that Mapstore removes the synced store.
- Create the store manually or import it with a CSV file.
How to verify it worked
- Edit a sheet-controlled field in the Google Sheet.
- Start a sync.
- Make sure that the Mapstore store updates to match the sheet.
- Edit product assignments in a sheet-managed store.
- Save the store.
- Make sure that the product assignments stay after the next sync.
