Replace CSV-imported stores
What this article helps you do
Replace CSV-imported stores. Keep manual stores and sheet-managed stores.
Before you start
- You imported stores from a CSV before or you added stores manually.
- You know the Delete existing stores uploaded through CSV checkbox.
- You have a backup of important data.
Step-by-step instructions
1. Understand the replacement option
In Stores -> Bulk, a file or URL import can use Delete existing stores uploaded through CSV.
- Unchecked: Mapstore adds stores from the CSV and keeps the existing stores.
- Checked: Mapstore deletes existing CSV-imported stores. Then, Mapstore imports stores from the new CSV.
2. When to use replace
Use replace when:
- You want to replace only your previously CSV-imported stores with a new CSV
- Your CSV is the single source of truth and you want Mapstore to match it with no differences
- You move from a different locator and your new CSV has all current locations
3. When not to use replace
Do not use replace if:
- You are not sure your new CSV contains each CSV-managed location you want live
- You are not sure that the CSV has all the necessary data
4. Run the import with confirmation
- Prepare your CSV.
- Go to Stores -> Bulk.
- Select File or URL mode.
- Check Delete existing stores uploaded through CSV.
- Click Test CSV.
- Make sure that the planned delete, create, and projected total counts are correct. The test makes no changes.
- Click Upload.
- Read the confirmation message.
- Continue with the import.
How to verify it worked
- After the import, check Stores.
- Make sure that the list matches your CSV.
- If Mapstore skipped rows, review the summary.
- Correct the CSV before a second replacement.
- Test your store locator on the storefront.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Fix |
|---|---|
| Stores were replaced by mistake | Mapstore has no undo action. Import your CSV again or restore a backup. |
| Expected CSV stores are missing after replace | Make sure that the new CSV has the expected stores. Replace removes previous CSV-imported rows and imports the new file. |
| Some rows skipped | Fix the CSV (add name and address to all rows) and run the import again. |
