Change map settings

What this article helps you do

Control store-list loading, sort, search, location, and directions. Select the store details that Mapstore shows.

Before you start

  • Mapstore is installed
  • You have access to Settings in the Mapstore admin

Step-by-step instructions

1. Open Mapstore settings

  • In Mapstore, go to Settings.
  • Open the Map section.

2. Select a loading strategy

  • Paginated: Stores load 30 at a time. Shoppers can use Load more when more results are available.
  • By map viewport: Stores load for the map area that the shopper views. Mapstore does not show stores without coordinates in this mode.

3. Set sort order

  • Select Default sorting for the storefront list.
  • Current options are Updated (newest first), Updated (oldest first), Name (A-Z), Name (Z-A), and Row order.
  • Mapstore puts pinned stores first for each sort order but Row order.

4. Configure search and location behavior

  • Set the initial map position and zoom. Shoppers see this view before they search, move the map, or share their location.
  • Set ZIP search radius (km) to control how far away stores can be for ZIP or postal-code searches.
  • To use shopper location for result order, enable Sort by distance.
  • To show up to three matching stores after three characters, enable Search autocomplete.
  • To request location when the page opens, enable Ask for user location on load.
  • Set User location zoom to control the zoom level after a shopper shares their location.

5. Adjust directions, filters, and map interaction

  • Select Directions link method: coordinates, address, or Google Place ID.
  • To show store filters below the store name, enable Show filters.
  • To let shoppers filter by country, enable Show country filter. Mapstore shows the selector when active stores with coordinates are in two or more countries.
  • To prevent zoom with a scroll action, enable Disable scroll zoom.

6. Set a default filter or country

These two settings are in the Mapstore Map block in the theme editor:

  • Default filters accepts filter names separated by commas. It matches any listed filter and hides the filter controls.
  • Default countries accepts two-letter country codes separated by commas. It matches any listed country and hides the country selector.
  • Leave a field blank when the map must not start with that filter.

7. Select the store details

  • Use Show address, Show phone, Show email, and Show image to control store-list details.
  • Disable Show icons to hide decorative icons from the list and marker popups.
  • Disable Show share button to remove the share action from marker popups.

How to verify it worked

  1. Save your changes in Settings.
  2. Open the store locator.
  3. Make sure that stores load with the selected strategy.
  4. Make sure that the sort order matches your setting.
  5. If you changed search, filters, directions, or location settings, test them on the storefront.

Troubleshooting

Issue Fix
The first map view is incorrect Update the initial position and zoom in Settings -> Map.
More than 30 stores are available With Paginated, use Load more to get the next group.
Some stores are not in viewport mode Mapstore does not show stores without correct lat and lng with By map viewport.
Location features do not operate Shoppers must give location access for distance sort and automatic location features.
Country selector is missing Mapstore shows it when active stores with correct coordinates are in two or more countries.
Autocomplete suggestions are missing Make sure that Search autocomplete is enabled. Enter a minimum of three characters.
Sort does not match the setting Save Settings and refresh the storefront. Make sure that Mapstore puts pinned stores first.
