Set a Google Place ID for a store

What this article helps you do

Link a store to a Google Place so Mapstore can display ratings and business hours from Google. You add a Google Place ID to a store, then use the sync button to fetch the latest data.

Before you start

  • Your Google API key is configured in Mapstore - see Configure Google API key and required APIs
  • The Places API (New) is enabled for your Google Cloud project
  • You have the Google Place ID for the business (find it via Google Maps or the Place ID Finder)

Step-by-step instructions

1. Find the Google Place ID

  1. Go to Google Place ID Finder or search for the business on Google Maps.
  2. Use the Place ID Finder tool or inspect the business URL to get the Place ID (a long string like ChIJN1t_tDeuEmsRUsoyG83frY4).
  3. Copy the Place ID.

2. Add the Place ID to a store

  1. Go to Stores in Mapstore and open a store (or create one).
  2. Find the Google Place ID section or field.
  3. Paste the Place ID.
  4. Click Save.

3. Sync ratings and hours

  1. With the Place ID saved, use the Sync button (or equivalent) next to the Google Place ID field.
  2. Mapstore calls the Places API and fetches ratings and business hours.
  3. The data is stored on the store; it appears on the storefront where reviews and hours are displayed.
  4. Sync button requirements: A valid Google API key, Places API enabled, and a non-empty Place ID. If the sync fails, see Configure Google API key and required APIs.

4. Bulk sync (optional)

You can sync multiple stores at once from the Stores list - see Managing stores in bulk.

How to verify it worked

  1. After syncing, open the store and confirm ratings and business hours are populated.
  2. View the store on the storefront; ratings and hours should display where configured.
  3. Run sync again later to refresh data if the business info changes on Google.
