Understand insights metrics (search, filter, click, total)
What this article helps you do
Understand Mapstore’s Insights metrics - search count, filter usage, store clicks, and totals - so you can see how shoppers use your store locator and improve it over time.
Before you start
- Mapstore is installed and the map block is live on your storefront
- Shoppers are using the store locator (Insights reflect real activity)
Step-by-step instructions
1. Open Insights in Mapstore
- In Mapstore, go to Insights in the main navigation.
- You’ll see metrics for your store locator usage.
2. Search count
- Tracks how many times shoppers run a search (e.g. city, zip code, address).
- High search counts mean people are actively looking for stores; low counts may mean discovery or placement needs improvement.
3. Filter usage
- Shows how often filters are applied (e.g. “Has pickup”, “Open Sundays”).
- Helps you see which filters matter most and whether to add or refine them.
4. Store clicks
- Counts how often shoppers click a store (to view details, get directions, or use the lead form).
- Indicates engagement with individual locations.
5. Total activity
- Total activity is the combined count of search, filter, and click events.
- It gives context for overall store-locator engagement over time.
6. Use the data
- Compare periods to see trends.
- Combine metrics: e.g. high search but low clicks may suggest improving result relevance or layout.
How to verify it worked
- Visit Insights and confirm metrics appear (may take time to populate after launch).
- Perform a search and click a store on the storefront; check that counts update after a short delay.
Common issues and fixes
| Issue | Fix |
|---|---|
| No data in Insights | Ensure the map block is live and shoppers have used it; data can take a short time to appear. |
| Numbers seem low | Check that the store locator page is linked from navigation or product pages. |
| Want to export data | See Export insights data as CSV/ZIP. |
