Create and edit store locations
What this article helps you do
Add new store locations manually and edit existing stores. You can set address, contact info, status, filters, notes, and more using the store create/edit form.
Before you start
- Mapstore is installed and set up for your Shopify store
- You have access to the Mapstore admin (Stores section)
- Store locations managed by Google Sheets sync have limited edit options - see Understand sheet-managed stores and edit limitations
Step-by-step instructions
1. Create a new store
- Go to Stores in Mapstore.
- Click Add store.
- Fill in the required fields: Name and Address.
- Optionally add Phone, Email, Website, Description.
- Set Status to Draft or Active - draft stores do not appear on the storefront.
- Enable Pinned if you want this store featured.
- Add Filters (comma-separated tags) for storefront search.
- Add an internal Note (not shown to shoppers).
- Click Save to create the store.
2. Edit an existing store
- Go to Stores and click a store to open it.
- Update any section of the form (address, contact, status, filters, note, custom fields, etc.).
- Click Save to apply changes.
3. Store form sections
The create/edit form is organized into sections:
- Basic info - Name, address, phone, email, website, description
- Status & visibility - Status (draft/active), Pinned
- Filters - Tags used for storefront filtering
- Note - Internal note (hidden from storefront)
- Custom fields - If you use custom fields, they appear here
- Google Place ID - For syncing ratings and hours
- Custom directions URL and Custom marker image - For per-store directions link and marker icon
- Product assignments - Link products to this store (if product availability is enabled)
How to verify it worked
- For a new store, confirm it appears in the Stores list with the correct status.
- For an Active store, open your store locator on the storefront and verify it shows on the map and in the list.
- Edit a store and change a field (e.g. phone); after saving, confirm the change appears on the storefront.
Common issues and fixes
| Issue | Fix |
|---|---|
| Store does not appear on storefront | Ensure Status is Active, not Draft. |
| Some fields are disabled or read-only | The store may be sheet-managed; see Understand sheet-managed stores and edit limitations. |
| Address not geocoding correctly | Check address format; use street, city, region/country. If problems persist, see Address geocoding failed during import. |
| Custom fields missing in form | Define custom fields first under Custom fields; they then appear in the store form. |
